Mark Elton
DipArch, BSc(Hons), Associate Director
Mark has a long-held interest in sustainable design that stems from his combined architectural and engineering education at the University of Bath in the late ‘80s. He joined ECD Architects in 2001 where he has gained a broad experience in sustainable design, master planning and construction throughout the country. The potential for reducing carbon emissions through retrofit of the existing stock is of particular interest, as demonstrated through exemplar townhouse and tower block refurbishment schemes that combine super-insulated fabric improvements with integrated renewables and low-carbon extensions.
He became an Associate Director at ECD in 2004, and was designated Head of Sustainability in 2008. He now represents the practice on the RIBA Sustainable Futures committee, recently taking on the role of Knowledge Champion for its online sustainability community.
