Our History
ECD, Energy Conscious Design, was set up in 1980 by the founding partners David Turrent, Richard Ferraro and John Doggart to combine energy research and consultancy with architectural practice. During the 1980s our main work was in the residential sector but in the 1990s we expanded into education and commercial projects. In 1995 the practice was re-structured as two separate companies: ECD Architects and ECD Energy and Environment. In 2000 ECD E&E was merged with Faber Maunsell.
ECD Architects is now 26 strong, led by the two founding Directors: David Turrent and Richard Ferraro. Our main areas of work are in housing and urban regeneration although we are also active in the education and commercial sectors.
ECD Project Services was set up in 2003 to complement the architectural practice with EcoHomes, SAP and NHER assessments.
