ECD Architects has recieved full planning approval for the refurbishment of Ferrier Point, a 23 storey residential tower, which will form the centre piece of the regeneration of Canning Town and Custom House in Newham. The proposals include two new duplex flats, insulated over cladding of the structure and a remodelled entrance. Internally the flats will be upgraded to Decent Homes standard. In addition a grant application has been made to install 370m2 of photovoltaic cladding on the south facade, capable of generating 10% of the building's electricity demand.
Project Architect Peter Stokes said, "The striking design of the external skin of the building is a response to the client's aspiration for a landmark building, signalling the high quality environment planned for the area."
