Rock House used as Thermal Mass Exemplar |

Last week the Modern Masonry Alliance held a series of seminars, attended by leading industry figures, in a house designed by ECD Architects demonstrating the benefits of thermal mass in sustainable housing. The house, located in Rock, North Cornwall, is built of traditional masonry construction with high levels of thermal insulation and large south facing windows. A solar assisted ground source heat pump provides all the domestic hot water and space heating requirements, and a large overhanging roof provides solar shading in summer.
