Brief: Masterplan for a new business park

Sustainability Initiatives: Local electricity generation, renewable energy, provision for public transport, pedestrian & cycling links, sustainable urban drainage.


This is a substantial business park development in Kent including offices, industry, and housing. The building types include a scheme of small office units and small ‘B1c’ units. ECD has recently produced a new master plan for the entire development, including building types, sizes and layout. The master plan promotes the best principles of sustainable design, incorporates provision for on-site energy distribution systems, local electricity generation and renewable energy. Also provision for public transport, cycling and pedestrian links to the local town, with integrated landscape and sustainable drainage systems. The infrastructure for Phase 1 of the development has recently been constructed and ECD is now proceeding with the design and construction of individual buildings.
