Masterplanning of major urban regeneration project for joint venture clients Peabody Trust and the London Borough of Southwark, involving the demolition of 1960s blocks of flats and their replacement with mixed tenure new build housing.
The plan consists of four courtyards, each providing 35-40 dwellings in the form of townhouses and flats. The four storey flats are positioned on the northern side of each courtyard to maximise solar penetration. The landscaped space within each courtyard is shared by the residents and the external 'street' environment is designed as a Homezone.
Phases 1 & 2 are now complete and occupied.
Finalist in Well Designed and Well Built Category: ASC Award for Sustainable Communities 2007. Phase 2 has achieved the Building for Life Silver Standard.
